Transfer News; Texas longhorns to loose 4 star players

Texas lost a recruit from their 2024 recruiting class in the middle of making significant additions to their transfer portal, proving that college football is a sport that keeps you on your toes at all times. D’antre Robinson, a four-star defensive tackle out of Orlando, Florida, is reportedly planning to request that Texas release him from his National Letter of Intent. According to On3’s Gerry Hamilton, who broke the story on Sunday, the Longhorns’ choice was mostly influenced by the loss of defensive line coach Bo Davis to LSU.

Hamilton stated on The Inside Scoop on Sunday that “(Robinson) had talked to Steve Sarkisian five times since the news of Bo Davis leaving hit.” “I will state that he is undoubtedly thinking about requesting a release from his National Letter of Intent; that is undoubtedly under consideration.”

Hamilton clarified that Robinson probably would have ended up at Florida’s in-state power if it weren’t for Davis. Hamilton stated, “That’s who he had connected with.” “He said the development with Bo Davis was a huge piece for his decision to go to Texas over Florida at the time. That’s who he had the relationship with, that was his guy, and that was a big reason when he committed on July 20th.”

This is the first instance of how the Longhorns recognized losing Davis may be detrimental to them.

T’Vondre Sweat and Bryon Muprhy II became two of the nation’s greatest defensive tackles under Davis’ guidance, while Texas’ run defense as a whole ranked among the best in the nation. Although Robinson’s loss is painful, the Longhorns have three additional defensive lineman in their class with names like Vernon Broughton and Alfred Collins who are prepared to take over as starters.
