A former player for the New York Yankees may negotiate a contract with a rival team in the American League East. Domingo Germán, the divisive former pitcher for the Yankees, is a free agent searching for his next move. The Toronto Blue Jays are one team that is supposedly interested in signing him, according to Mark Sanchez of the New York Post. “A healthier Domingo Germán expects to be back in Major League Baseball next season,” Sanchez stated. “A source acquainted with Germán’s circumstances stated that the former Yankee is in contact with six organizations, including the Baltimore Orioles and the Blue Jays, rivals in the American League East.
Although the source claimed that the Yankees’ crosstown rivals are “the least favorites,” the (New York Mets) had also spoken with Germán’s team. Despite the engagement of many clubs, no agreement is close following a season marked by both exceptional highs and lows.” While Germán has had several off-field problems over his lengthy career, including a ban following a domestic abuse probe, he has also showed glimpses of brilliance on the field. After receiving therapy for alcohol problems, the 31-year-old left the Yankees early despite having a 4.56 ERA in 20 outings during the previous season.
It appears that he is searching for another chance to play in the major leagues, and the Blue Jays have been identified as a team in need of starting pitchers. Germán has shown to be a reliable back-of-the-rotation starter when he has taken the mound. Perhaps he will sign with us shortly.
