Yankees star suspended cause of drug abuse

This off-season, the New York Yankees have made major adjustments to their starting pitching order. After an alcohol-related incident in 2023, they had to make the difficult decision to split ways with Domingo German and lost Luis Severino and Frankie Montas to free agency.

In 2023, following an incident involving alcohol, they were forced to make the painful choice to part ways with Domingo.

But the team decided to go forward without him due to persistent difficulties, adding Marcus Stroman to strengthen the rotation. Although the Yankees would have loved to sign German to a long-term contract, his off-field problems demanded a replacement.

German, who is 31 years old and had a mixed year last year, is still attracting interest from a number of teams in free agency. According to the New York Post, the Blue Jays, Orioles, and Mets have all expressed interest in him. This might cause German to relocate across town to Queens or join an AL East competitor.

German is apparently progressing well in his personal growth, having finished his rehab treatment program. Although there is still a danger of a relapse, his development might persuade a team in need of a talented pitcher to give him another go. His career best was a 3.61 ERA over 72.1 innings in 2022; he had a 4.56 ERA the previous year.

Teams looking for depth in their pitching staff may find his talent useful. But the Yankees have decided to move on without German and reorganize their pitching staff for the upcoming season in order to prevent any further problems.
