As the January transfer window comes to an end, Burnley has already added David Datro Fofana on loan from Chelsea, but the Clarets appear far from finished as we enter the final five days of the window.
In an attempt to maintain his team in the Premier League, Vincent Kompany is interested in Ajax winger Carlos Forbs, again on a temporary loan. Nottingham Forest may also be interested; the difference may lie in which team gives more first-team playing time.
Kompany is also attempting to bolster his defense at the opposite end of the field by trying to sign Montpellier defender Maxime Esteve. As the player approaches the last 18 months of his contract, Montpellier is under pressure to sell, and it was revealed this week that the Clarets are working on a deal for one of their “main options”.
Before this weekend’s match against Lille, manager Michel Der Zakarian insisted that Esteve would play and stated that any departure would happen early the next week.
Burnley is almost ready to sign Esteve.
