Luke Ayling, whose contract at Elland Road is about to expire, signed a loan deal with Boro to stay until the end of the season. A permanent move is anticipated in the summer. Djed Spence joined Genoa after returning to the Spurs.
We are left fully spread out. Leigh Bromby stated following the victory over Norwich that Junior Firpo has returned and has performed like a “new signing.” Sam Byram is also well, but how long will they stay injury-free?
Before the market opened, Daniel Farke acknowledged that he would like to recruit a new left-sided defender. However, nobody has entered through the door. Leeds has little alternatives available to them on either side of the defense.
Thus, it raises the issue of why Leeds decided not to attempt to recruit Luke Thomas. After completing a loan at Boro, the 22-year-old joined Ayling, versatile striker Sam Greenwood, and captain Jonny Howson on the team.
It happens after Thomas, who spent the first half of 23–24 on loan at Sheffield United, returned to Leicester earlier this month. Due to his struggles to break into the game, Leicester ended his short stint.
Thomas stated that he wanted to sign with a Premier League team, therefore Leeds’ attempt to get him in the summer fell through. Leeds’s rivalry for promotion may have also disqualified them from moving to us.
However, he has now completed a transfer to Boro and will support Michael Carrick’s team in their quest for a play-off spot through the remainder of the season. Leeds, however, is still searching for a defender.
