Both players have signed loan agreements with Schalke and Millwall that go through the conclusion of the current campaign.

In a 4-1 loss to Kaiserslautern last week, Churlinov scored on his second Schalke debut. He had previously had a loan stint with the German team in the 2021–2022 season.

At the conclusion of the season, he has the option to extend his loan agreement with the 2. Bundesliga team.

Obafemi made his Millwall debut last weekend in a 1-1 draw against Preston North End, coming on as a second-half replacement.

The Republic of Ireland international, who is lower on the Turf Moor hierarchy, has played just 19 minutes this season after recovering from a major hamstring injury.

After making his comeback in November, Obafemi has only played as a substitute twice, against Sheffield United and Arsenal, respectively.

In contrast, Churlinov hasn’t played a single game for Burnley’s first team since their Premier League promotion.

Kompany wishes Churlinov and Obafemi well on their departures, and the Clarets manager hopes they return with improved players.

Kompany had a direct reaction when asked to explain his reasoning for both departures: “Game time.

“I’ve spoken with the guys, and I appreciate their desire to play.

“We anticipate them performing well and continuing to grow, and we anticipate having them with us during preseason.”
