The Five Most Important Tasks for Raiders Moving Forward

The Las Vegas Raiders need to make a few moves in the immediate future to help set themselves up for success next season. We take a look at a few of the things the Raiders must do;

No. 1 — Identifying a Clear Offensive Strategy With new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, the Las Vegas Raiders must identify the offense they want to run and evaluate and identify needs. This process, certainly with the input of Getsy, will also include filling out his offensive staff and developing a clear delineation of responsibilities.

No. 2 — Deeply analyze the roster and prioritize positions to improve.

While there are positions the Raiders need help at, they arguably have one of the better overall rosters in the National Football League. Las Vegas’ roster is filled with talent at nearly every position group. The Raiders, however, have a new general manager in Tom Telesco, who will be looking to help the team take the next step.

Telesco will aim to put his imprint on the roster, so he’ll take a deep look at the team’s roster and make additions and subtractions as he and Coach Antonio Pierce deem necessary. The Raiders are close to being a team in the yearly playoff hunt. They need to make the right moves this offseason to make it happen.

No. 3 — Decide on Josh Jacobs.

One of Telesco’s most important decisions during his first season in Las Vegas will be to help decide what happens with running back Josh Jacobs. Two seasons ago, Jacobs led the NFL in rushing yards. This season was very different. He had a down season by his standards and is now a free agent. Jacobs finds himself as a free agent in a position devalued by NFL owners over the last few seasons.

No. 4– Decide on the quarterback position.

The Raiders have a quarterback in Aidan O’Connell, who is a serviceable quarterback in the NFL and has the potential to continue to grow into an even better quarterback this offseason. The Raiders must use the draft and free agency to help solidify the position. Or, the Raiders could use both the draft and free agency.

No. 5– Figure out how to approach the NFL Draft. Las Vegas has a lot of flexibility with its approach to the NFL Draft. The Raiders have the No. 13 overall pick and many picks after that to add to their roster.

The Raiders could choose from a few different positions to add quality depth to via the draft, but they’ll have to have a clear plan on how to do so. The Raiders are just a few pieces away from having a potentially dominating defense. Their offensive line could use some quality talent as well. This could be the Raiders’ most important draft in the last decade. If Telesco has a successful first draft, it could set the Raiders up for many years of success ahead.
