Grant Williams, a former basketball standout for the Tennessee Vols, has been moved for the second time in less than a year.
Williams was traded to the Dallas Mavericks last summer from the Boston Celtics, who had selected him in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft.
Williams was moved to the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday, one day before the NBA trade deadline, in a transaction that sent PJ Washington to Dallas.
The former Vols star is returning home with this deal.
Although Williams was raised in Charlotte and went to Providence Day School—the same institution that 2025 five-star Vols recruiting target David Sanders Jr. presently attends—he was born in Houston.
This season, the former Tennessee forward is averaging 8.1 points per game and a career-high 26.4 minutes per game.
While Williams doesn’t put up flashy stats, he does have a certain tenacity on the floor and isn’t hesitant to go hard at anyone in the NBA, including LeBron James.
