In 1888, William McGregor, a board member of the club, had the idea to start an organized football league in a coffee shop owned by a Villa supporter. As expected, Villa dominated the new division, winning six championships by 1910.
One hundred years later, Manchester United led the largest revolution in English football since McGregor’s game-changing cup of Joe. United won 13 of the first 21 Premier League titles available, becoming them the league’s first champions and surpassing Villa in the process.
This is the whole chronicle of the rivalry that has been woven in between each club’s eras of supremacy.
