The Houston Rockets could grab another high pick in this year’s draft.
That’s not because they are slipping in the standings and are currently projected to finish in the lottery because they don’t own their draft pick this year; the Oklahoma City Thunder will hold it unless they finish in the top four. But they have the Brooklyn Nets’ pick, which is currently slated to be No. 8 overall.
With that pick, Bleacher Report projects that the Rockets will take Kentucky point guard Reed Sheppard.
“He’s taking advantage of switches, burning big men with hesitations and blow-bys. He’s proved to be more elusive off the dribble than initially thought, and despite lacking explosion in the lane, he has had success finishing, compensating with crafty adjustments, layups and touch shots,” Bleacher Report writes. “Scouts are even starting to think he could be used to play point guard at the next level, a potential key development that alleviates issues over his size and length.”
Sheppard is averaging 12.1 points per game so far in his freshman season in Lexington.
