Both the number of players entering the draft and the number of invites to the Combine are records for the Michigan Wolverines. Additionally, they are positioned to select a record number of players in the draft. A lot of “from the University of Michigan” will be mentioned to fans during the 2024 NFL Draft.
This draft list includes some well-known players from this National Championship team, including Kris Jenkins, Junior Colson, Blake Corum, J.J. McCarthy, and others. In practically every round of the draft, Michigan supporters could hear the names of Michigan players announced.
What will be intriguing, in my opinion, is how many Michigan players the Los Angeles Chargers, who are now led by former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, pick. In any case, a large number of Michigan athletes will compete in the NFL the next year.
This is my forecast for the summer travels of these gifted young men.
Among the top four quarterbacks available in the NFL Draft this year is J.J. McCarthy. Given that the top three quarterbacks are expected to select with the first three picks, McCarthy must decide which team needs a quarterback the most. The six-foot-three quarterback can play in the top 10, but I sent him to the Denver Broncos after letting him fall just short of that mark.
Although the Broncos are now in a bit of a turmoil, it appears like Russell Wilson won’t be wearing a Broncos uniform in 2019 and that Sean Payton is searching for the team’s next Drew Brees. McCarthy might be that person for Payton.
McCarthy undoubtedly has arm talent, as seen by his ability to both squeeze the ball into confined areas and air it out for a significant gain. In a pinch, he can also utilize his feet to escape out of awkward circumstances. He will still be a rookie in the major leagues, though, and for players—especially quarterbacks fresh out of college—that is the real test. Under Payton’s guidance, McCarthy can succeed in this league, but he must address his fixable flaws.
