He is here

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin: There are many of youthful playmakers in the Green Bay Packers’ receiver room, one could even say that it is loaded. Still, they are surprisingly one of the favorites to sign a top receiver. No, Davante Adams isn’t it. Instead, it’s Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills. In the event that Diggs decides not to play for Buffalo again in 2024, the Dallas Cowboys (+300) are the clear favorites at Bet Online to sign the four-time Pro Bowl player. At +400, the Packers have the next-lowest odds. That is a 20% suggested chance.

November was the four-time Pro Bowler’s 30th birthday. He just finished his fourth season in a row with more than 100 receptions, more than 1,180 yards, and more than eight touchdowns. He hauled in 107 receptions for 1,183 yards (11.1 average) and eight touchdowns in 2023. He had at least 1,000 receiving yards for the sixth year in a row. Why would a strong Super Bowl contender like the Bills seek to cut ties with a receiver deserving of Hall of Fame recognition? The Bills have over the salary cap by nearly $60 million.

Diggs’ 2024 cap hit is expected to be $27.85 million, with a basic salary of $18.5 million. He has a contract that runs through the 2027 campaign. In the event of a Diggs deal, Green Bay would presumably be completely forgotten about due to that contract. Though not quite as much as Buffalo, the Packers are also over the salary cap. The Packers are one of the teams with the best odds to sign a running back. Here are the favorites to land Diggs, though, first:

Regarding Adams, the Packers are +4000 to reclaim the three-time All-Pro if he chooses not to rejoin the Las Vegas Raiders. Unsurprisingly, the New York Jets are strong favorites to get Adams and Aaron Rodgers back together. It would appear that Green Bay needs a running back much more. Aaron Jones is expected to return, but AJ Dillon will soon be eligible for free agency. After Dillon had a difficult 2023 season and the offense didn’t click until Jones was healthy and Dillon was hurt, the Packers may want to upgrade that position.
