Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has said West Brom loanee Caleb Taylor may have suffered a ‘nasty injury’ in the Cambridge United triumph.
West Brom sent young defender Taylor out on loan in January, with League One promotion hopefuls Bolton Wanderers bringing him in. The Trotters had picked up concerns over Ricardo Santos and Eoin Toal at the time, meaning they needed reinforcements at the back.
It was the 21-year-old who joined after spending much of the campaign on the bench for the Baggies. Taylor has performed well for Evatt’s side, with his fourth appearance coming away to Cambridge United last night.
However, the West Brom loanee was forced off in the latter stages of the first half, and an early update will have supporters of both clubs concerned.
As quoted by The Bolton News, Bolton Wanderers boss Evatt stated it looks like a ‘nasty injury’, potentially to his ankle ligaments. They will now wait to see how it settles before a more detailed assessment. He said:
“I don’t know how it wasn’t a free kick at the very least, there were some baffling decisions again.
“It is a nasty injury. He has a really swollen ankle at the moment and it could be ligament damage but we will have to see how it settles.”
