There may be several players departing Cardiff City starting in June because so many have struggled to produce this season.
The Bluebirds had a run for the playoffs early in the season, but they swiftly lost steam in the Championship after a run of bad performances.
Their current league position is 14th, and they are nearer the relegation zone than Hull City, who are in sixth place. Although it doesn’t seem realistic, Cardiff might end up in the relegation zone if their current bad play persists.
There will probably be some players departing the team in the summer as another poor season comes to an end. If they are to ever aspire to return to the Premier League, they will need to make some changes to the team, whether it is because they are nearing the end of their contracts or they are just not performing well enough.
Since Kieffer Moore departed the team in 2022, the Bluebirds have had difficulty finding a reliable striker; Kion Etete is the most recent to fall short of the Wales international’s shoes.
The attacker has played for Cardiff for the past two seasons, making 54 appearances, but only managing five goals. This is an appalling record for a striker, and it may be the cause of his summertime dismissal.
The club’s top priority in the summer should be to sign a new striker; Etete should be dropped given his dismal goal total at Cardiff City Stadium.
