Captain of Bolton Ricardo Santos successfully contested his red card from Saturday’s loss to Blackpool, having his two-game suspension revoked.
The defender can now play in Tuesday’s derby against Wigan despite being sent off for preventing a goal-scoring opportunity.
After the game, Ian Evatt, the manager of Bolton, declared that the team would “one million percent” challenge the ruling.
The Football Association acknowledged that Santos had made an effort to play the ball despite it being his second red of the year.
Bolton, the League One team chasing promotion, is third in the standings and is only outside of the automatic promotion slots due to goal differential.
