The Kansas City Chiefs have become as one of the NFL’s least beloved teams because it seems like both league officials and officiating crews always have it in for them. Over the last five years, Kansas City has won almost every postseason game thanks to at least one dubious call by the referees. This season, Ravens kicker Justin Tucker has been the target of intimidation by star players like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce before games. Later, during the team’s Super Bowl victory, Kelce was spotted punching his head coach.
It’s hard to picture this team making any other public relations blunders but they seem to top themselves over and over again.
Chiefs Wide Receiver Acknowledges Violation of Rules in Aggressive Tweet
Wide receiver Melecole Hardman was asked some questions about his departure from the New York Jets last season during an interview on Ryan Clark’s Pivot Podcast, which only served to highlight the team’s ceaseless stream of irritating antics. The Rams are the two-time Super Bowl champions. Nobody can deny that New York was an absolute shambles in the previous season, although some dubious remarks were made.
The interview’s most significant finding was that Hardman was contacted while still under contract with New York by Mahomes and Brett Veach, general manager of Kansas City. It would be a flagrant violation of the NFL’s code of conduct regarding tampering if Veach or Mahomes went up to Hardman. A few years ago, the Miami Dolphins gave up a first-round draft pick in an effort to entice Tom Brady of the New England Patriots to move to South Florida, and that rule came into effect.
