Adrian Clarke, a former EFL player, is adamant that Sheffield Wednesday would aim to defeat Rotherham United in order to put further pressure on Stoke City and other teams.
Wednesday has won three of their last four league games to increase their chances of surviving, and they are currently ranked 23rd in the Championship rankings.
With 19 points, Rotherham is still firmly stuck at the foot of the table and has only triumphed once in their previous 22 Championship games.
Sheffield Wednesday might tie the Potters and QPR this weekend for first place, only three points behind Stoke, who have been on a terrible fall.
According to former EFL player Clarke, Danny Rohl will now seek to eliminate Rotherham from the equation in order to put pressure on Stoke and his team’s other rivals.
In an interview with What The EFL Podcast, Clarke stated, “I believe they will go there with confidence.”
“They’ve won three straight, their defense has significantly improved recently, their game management has improved, and they seem to have figured out the right lineup with three center halves.
They should definitely aim for the three points, in my opinion.
“I don’t think Sheffield Wednesday will consider a draw to be a good result; instead, we should put more pressure on teams like Stoke, Huddersfield, and QPR in the vicinity and take Rotherham out of the picture.”
This season, Sheffield Wednesday still has to play Stoke; the Potters are scheduled to visit Hillsborough, while the Owls have to travel to QPR.
