Wes Burns and Nathan Broadhead will not go to Plymouth this weekend, according to manager Kieran McKenna.
The Welsh pair was substituted early in the weekend’s triumph over Birmingham City and will be evaluated after their trip to Devon before playing again.
“We’ve enjoyed a week on the training pitch. Those without injuries have had a good week with some extra training and then recovery time for others,” Kieran remarked.
Wes and Nathan are both sidelined due to strained muscles, but we’re hoping that Conor will be ready to work out with the group tomorrow.
“They’re not severe muscle strains; they’re minor ones, so they won’t be available for this weekend’s games. We’ll have to evaluate them again.”
“I would say that they are highly improbable for Tuesday, but we will have to evaluate them for Saturday.
“They are both valuable players who are playing well, but that is why we have a squad, and there will be other players who are prepared to join the team and contribute as well.”
Better news about Jack Taylor: he’s back in the gym after dealing with a quad issue.
“The biggest plus of the week has been Jack’s back training,” he stated.
“He hasn’t done all of the sessions but, if he comes through tomorrow ok we’re hopeful he might be able to travel with us to Plymouth.”
Kieran also gave an injury update on defender Janoi Donacien, who recently underwent groin surgery.
“Janoi is doing better,” Kieran said.
“He had surgery about three weeks ago and his recovery is going well. He’s out on the grass running and will start doing ball work next week, so the progression is going in the right direction.
“He is an important player for us – an important member of the group but for sure one of our best one-v-one defensive players so to have him available again would be a big plus.”
