Wolves’ growing injury concerns prompted the precautionary removal of Jose Sa and Pedro Neto.
Joao Gomes, Hwang Hee-chan, and Matheus Cunha were not in Gary O’Neil’s team for Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Newcastle United.
Additionally, they encountered additional issues during the half as both star player Neto and goalie Sa had to be substituted.
According to O’Neil, “Peter felt a tightness in his hamstring, and Jose had a collision and sore quad.” The physiotherapist believes that there is tightness rather than an injury there. It would have been extremely risky to leave Pedro out there given the circumstances we find ourselves in.
“Channy was eager to try, but he felt tight at halftime on Wednesday, and we ended up with him getting injured.”
O’Neil said, “I come out here and try to answer the questions, but I haven’t had a massive debrief with the guys,” in response to a question about Sa and Neto. However, based on the sounds, we think they’ll both be OK by next week. However, that may easily alter on Monday.
Wolves lost handily, although their performance wasn’t that bad considering they gave up three fortuitous and preventable goals.
Furthermore, O’Neil was happy with what he observed on Saturday.
According to O’Neil, “quite a few things have obviously gone against us in the last few days.” “I’m incredibly proud of the players, but I knew it would be a difficult test.
