Leeds had a lucky escape not signing £6m player in January

When Leeds United was looking for a new right-back in January, a variety of right-sided players were connected to the team before Connor Roberts, on loan from Burnley under Vincent Kompany, was eventually signed.

Roberts has shown to be a wise acquisition. He scored in the 3-1 comeback victory over Leicester and then came off the bench to assist Patrick Bamford in the Huddersfield goal on Saturday.

The Wales international could very likely make his league debut when the Whites host Stoke City on Tuesday night. Archie Gray might relocate to the center of the park as Daniel Farke gives his players a break.

Given that Luke Ayling and Djed Spence are leaving, Roberts, who is on loan from Burnley, has shown to be a respectable addition. It might have transpired differently. Leeds was rumored to be interested in signing Calvin Ramsay of Liverpool.

Others like Luton signing Daiki Hashioka were also linked. But Ramsay was looking for a loan after his spell at Preston ended early, with injury limiting the Scotland man to just two appearances for North End.

Leeds had a lucky escape in not signing defender Calvin Ramsay

Following rumours of our early interest in Ramsay, Leeds was even supposed to be winning the race. The £6.5 million Liverpool acquisition, though, was sent on loan to Bolton in the hopes that he would have the same effect as Connor Bradley.

Bradley returned to Anfield on loan and had a stellar season before spending time at Bolton. Nevertheless, Ramsay’s strategy has not worked out. Four appearances, two off the bench, and one half-time hook in a start.

Since then, Ramsay has missed the last three games from the matchday roster. Ramsay has been hindered by injury, but he is finding it difficult to recover. We were fortunate not to sign him.
