Maidstone United manager George signs contract extension

Maidstone United manager George Elokobi has signed a two-year contract extension at the Gallagher Stadium.

His initial deal was due to run out at the end of this season but he’s now on board until the summer of 2026.

“I’m extremely pleased to carry on the work we’ve been doing at Maidstone United Football Club,” said Elokobi, who last month led the Stones to the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

“The project continues and I’m delighted to have signed a contract extension.

“Hopefully here’s to more good memories for our football club going forward.”

Elokobi, 38, was named caretaker boss following Hakan Hayrettin’s dismissal in January last year.

He was made permanent manager two months later, impressing the board with his long-term vision for rebuilding the club as they hurtled towards National League relegation.

As well as leading Maidstone’s history-making FA Cup run, the Stones are also challenging for a National League South play-off place under Elokobi.

They’re outside the play-offs on goal difference going into a rearranged home game against Bath tonight.
