Vikings ‘Adore’ Star QB Draft Prospect Among Trade Rumors

The Minnesota Vikings’ recent coaching appointments are quickly changing the perception of their offseason intentions.

Specifically, Josh McCown, the quarterbacks coach, is a voice that is heard often.

They selected No. 11 overall in the draft, but there have been speculations that they are connected to a number of the best quarterback prospects available. Kirk Cousins looks to be heading into free agency at this point. A new top target for the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine might be making an appearance.

Alec Lewis of The Athletic said on March 4 that McCown’s presence is “… useful because he can relate to veterans and has experience working with highly touted draftees (Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Bryce Young, etc.).” “One more thing to think about: McCown coached Drake Maye of North Carolina, a player the Vikings love.”

McCown coached Maye in high school. May has long been the presumed No. 2 quarterback prospect in this class if not the second overall pick of the draft.

Jayden Daniels of LSU has gained momentum in recent weeks and is well-liked by the group.

With nine interceptions, 3,608 yards, and 24 touchdowns on 63.3% of his throws completed by Maye. In 2022, he performed better, throwing for 4,321 yards, 38 touchdowns, and seven interceptions on 66.2% of his passes.

This is merely the most recent rumor or connection between Maye and the Vikings. The hiring of McCown started a rumor mill right away.

Additionally, a lot of people have selected the Vikings in a blockbuster trade for a quarterback.
