Coventry Live provides transfer news on Coventry City, as the Sky Blues bolster their developing roster with a former Derby County Academy player who brings defensive strength.
After a good trial with the team, Coventry City signed a young, talented defender on a free transfer from Premier League Brighton and Hove Albion.
After the Seagulls released the center-back, Kain Ryan was given a one-year contract with the Sky Blues. The 19-year-old earned his club debut on Friday night as City’s Under-21 team defeated Hednesford Town on penalties to secure a spot in the Birmingham Senior Cup semifinals.
The left-footed defender came to Brighton from Derby County’s Academy in November 2021. After spending a season and a half with Albion’s Under-18s, he advanced to the Under-21s at the start of the 2023–24 campaign. Before being dismissed last month, he made 29 appearances in the professional development division of Premier League South.
Speaking on the club’s website, the adolescent added, “I’m really happy.” “For me, it’s a fresh start and a new chapter, and hopefully I can go from here.”All I want is to resume playing football, earn as many minutes as I can, and resume being a productive player.
“I can’t wait to get started. It’s an exciting time for me and I’m looking forward to what the future holds.”
