Derby County marquee transfer finally paying off after Paul Warne tactical tweak

As Sonny Bradley establishes himself in the starting lineup, Derby County is beginning to see the best of the summer acquisition.

Sonny Bradley has had to wait his turn, but he is now beginning to establish himself on Derby County’s first squad. When the seasoned defender joined the League One team from Luton Town, who was headed for the Premier League, he caused waves.

With several promotions and captaincy under his belt, this center-back had seen it all and was highly anticipated. However, they were not met right away for a variety of reasons, including tactical setup and blunders.

Paul Warne, the manager of Derby, tried to open the season with his preferred three-at-the-back configuration, adding Bradley and Curtis Nelson to help out in the center. Additionally signed to maximize this technique were wing-backs.

After only three victories in their first eight games across all categories, the 3-5-2 was replaced with a back four, and things remained that way until the end of January.
