George Elokobi has been given a new contract as compensation for leading Maidstone United to their greatest FA Cup run ever.
Elokobi led the Stones to victory over EFL teams Barrow, Stevenage, and Ipswich Town in seven matches, advancing them to the competition’s fifth round before they were eliminated at Coventry City.
And as they fight for a spot in the play-offs with six weeks left in the season, his team is also aiming for promotion in the National League South at the first time of asking.
Following Hakan Hayrettin’s resignation in January of last year, Elokobi, 38, was designated caretaker boss. Two months later, the position was made permanent.
Despite his inability to stop the team’s relegation from the top division, he changed the Gallagher Stadium’s environment and made records during his first full season in charge.
“I’m extremely pleased to carry on the work we’ve been doing at Maidstone United Football Club,” the former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Colchester defender remarked upon extending his current contract to the end of the 2025–2026 season.
“The project is still ongoing, and I’m happy to have extended my contract.”
