Ephron Mason-Clark, a forward for Peterborough United, was loaned back to London Road by Coventry City after a late-winter transfer was completed in January.
Late on the day of the deadline, Coventry City confirmed Mason-Clark’s transfer. The 24-year-old will play the rest of the season with Peterborough United after the transfer was revealed as having cost an undisclosed amount.
Subsequent reports verified the specifics of the agreement, with Posh agreeing to reduce the transfer fee to £4.25 million in order to retain their star player for the remainder of the season. For a League One player, the deal is expensive, but Mason-Clark has all the makings of a star in Sky Blue right now.
An exciting addition for Robins and co
Having Mason-Clark for the second half of the Championship season would have been a welcoming for Coventry City. He’s a talented and dangerous attacker who already looks ready for the step up to the second-tier.
At times, he’s looked a level above the opposition for Peterborough United. Often deployed on the left but capable of playing anywhere across the front three, Mason-Clark has notched a stunning 18 goals and 11 assists in 44 games across all competitions this season, and there’s still plenty of time for him to add to that tally.
The sheer pace he possesses will make him a handful at any level but he’s got the attacking instincts and ability on the ball to boot. At 24, he’ll only get better and better, but he’s good enough to have an instant impact for Mark Robins when he officially links up with his new club in the summer.
