It is becoming more and more clear that he will not just be a future NBA star, but also possibly the league’s face in the years to come. Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is one more person who has faith in the young, promising talent.
Even if the Spurs are having trouble as a unit, Wembanyama has been playing well and getting better every game as the season goes on.
According to The Volume via NBACentral, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors recently stated that the French prodigy might already be ranked among the NBA’s top 20 players.
Wembanyama leads the league in blocks per game and averages 20.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and a strong point total of 3.5 assists. Notably, with a season field goal percentage of 46.7, he has improved his shooting accuracy. He has been shooting an amazing 42.4 percent from outside the arc over the last 15 games.
What sets him apart is his remarkable agility and fundamental offensive repertoire, rare for someone standing at 7-foot-4. Perhaps only Ralph Sampson boasted similar ball-handling and perimeter shooting skills at such towering height.
Currently, Victor Wembanyama’s defensive prowess exceeds his offensive capabilities, with his offensive game still in its nascent stages. Nevertheless, he’s already a nightmare for opposing teams to contend with.
The thought of his potential greatness in just a couple of years is staggering. Green even suggests he could be a league MVP contender by then, despite still being a few years shy of hitting his prime.
