The 23-year-old defender Jacob Greaves is in high demand due to his performances for Hull City; other Premier League teams are reportedly keeping an eye on him
This season, the Humberside club is only outside the top six on goal difference. The Tigers’ center defender has been instrumental in helping his team contend for the Championship playoffs.
Greaves has gained a lot of admirers for his back-row performances. He can read the game to neutralize attacks, and many of City’s possession spells rely on his ease in handling the ball.
With Everton and Tottenham Hotspur both said to be interested in acquiring the defender’s services over the summer, pundit Carlton Palmer believes the Toffees could have the upper hand in transfer negotiations in the off-season.
Jacob Greaves targeted by Everton as potential Jarrad Branthwaite replacement
The potential of regular Premier League game time will be a valuable negotiating tool for the Merseyside club as they attempt to entice Greaves to Goodison Park. Manchester United is reportedly interested in Jarrad Branthwaite, a fellow left-footed player and current Toffees center-back.
According to Football Insider, the Everton management saw Greaves as a “natural replacement” for their starting defense, who is valued at £100 million after the Red Devils expressed interest in him.
And Carlton Palmer thinks Everton might benefit from the transfer situation since there will be no shortage of cash if the 21-year-old moves to Old Trafford and a starting position is up for grabs.
Palmer exclusively told Football League World: “Everton are bracing themselves for Jarred Branthwaite to leave in the summer, and I think Greaves is ready to start in the Premier League.
“He’s under contract until the summer of 2026 so Hull are in the position to demand big money for him to leave, and with Branthwaite going Everton will be getting big money in.
