Hull City fall further behind in play-off battle

In the play-off battle, Hull City needs to gain more ground after today’s Championship results. With a 3-0 victory over Stoke City, Norwich City strengthened their hold on sixth place.

The Canaries took the lead in the first half thanks to goals from Josh Sargent and Gabriel Sara. After an hour, Ashley Barnes, a seasoned forward, scored a third goal to seal the victory.

This means that although the Tigers, who are still in seventh place in the standings, are three points below Norwich, they still have a game in hand over David Wagner’s squad. After leaving for a training camp in Antalya the following week, City won’t play again until welcoming Stoke to the MKM Stadium on Friday, March 29.

Preston North End’s 1-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle increased their chances of finishing in the top six. The Lilywhites pulled to within two points of the Tigers, and Liam Millar was the hero.

North End are ranked ninth, and Coventry City, who overcame a late deficit to defeat Wolverhampton Wanderers and advance to the FA Cup semifinals, are ranked eighth. One less than City, with 57 points overall, are the Sky Blues.

In other news, Ipswich Town defeated Sheffield Wednesday, a team dogged by relegation, to surpass Leeds United and secure a spot in the automatic promotion zone. If Leeds defeats Millwall by a two-goal margin tomorrow afternoon, they will move up to the top.

Goals either side of half-time from Tom Fellows and Jed Wallace helped West Bromwich Albion see off Bristol City. The fifth-placed Baggies now have a eight-point cushion to the Tigers.
