After missing out on a thrilling return to the Premier League due to penalties in the previous season, Coventry City is back in the running for the playoffs.
For a large portion of this season, Coventry City appeared to be a long cry from the team that advanced to the play-off final. They are now four points outside of the top six in the Championship table, but they have made an amazing comeback.
After trading Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer last summer, they made some striking additions, and they undoubtedly have players who can advance those two farther up the ranks.
Having said that, the following three Coventry City players have the potential to play in the Premier League in the future:
Ben Sheaf
Sheaf shined at Coventry City, and now he’s one of the Championship’s best midfield players. The former Arsenal player might have the opportunity to play in the Premier League with a different team if the Sky Blues are not successful in qualifying.
The 26-year-old was formerly on Arsenal’s books as a juvenile and would welcome the chance to establish himself in the premier league.
Haji Wright
Wright made the move from the Turkish Super Lig to the Championship last summer and has progressed well over the course of the season, proving a danger on the left-wing and in his natural role as a striker.
15 goals and seven assists in the first season of English football for the towering American may well put Premier League clubs on notice.
Milan van Ewijk
Last but not least is another of last summer’s signings, Dutch wing-back van Ewijk. He’d emerged as a strong player with Heerenveen before a move to Coventry City, marking a statement signing for the club.
Able to operate as a wing-back or full-back, the 23-year-old has his best years ahead of him and many will tip him to play top-flight football. He could certainly do so in England with his bombing presence on the right making him a valuable player in his first season in the second-tier.
