According to their announcement, the Brisbane Broncos have surpassed all other NRL clubs in history by enrolling 50,000 players in a single season.
Before surpassing the 50,000 mark this season, their membership totals during the previous three years were 47,300 in 2023, 36,800 in 2022, and 28,533 in 2021.
The team disclosed that the incredible accomplishment was guaranteed before to the start of the season in Las Vegas. By the halfway point of the season, the club hopes to have at least 60,000 members, up from its current 53,672 members.
CEO Dave Donaghy stated earlier this week, “This is what we have set our sights on over the past couple of seasons, and it’s terrific to see this milestone reached before we’d even played a game in 2024.”
Naturally, we are aware that it follows a terrific showing and a Grand Final appearance from the previous year, but it has been building for a while.
“Being a Broncos member is something people desire and are pleased to be, and our staff behind the scenes has been working incredibly hard to make that happen.
“Our players are well aware of the cherished status we enjoy in the hearts of the public, and it speaks to the immense love the city, the state, and even many people worldwide have for this club.
“We feel that connection now more than ever.”These figures pale in comparison to those of the Australian Football League (AFL), where joining a club has long been associated with fan culture and totals often approach 100,000.
“As an NRL team, there’s no reason why we can’t accomplish that, and I’m happy that the Brisbane Broncos are setting the standard in this area.”
“We’re currently working toward 60,000, and if not before, we hope to celebrate that milestone by Origin time.”
