Bad News:West Indies Cricket Captain is out on Severe injury

Kohli provides an appropriate IPL reminder of his T20 dominance.

It was only his second game for Bengaluru after a two-month break from cricket, but the 35-year-old looked like he had played every game of his life, inspiring his team to win as they successfully chased down Punjab Kings' goal of 177.

A grinning Kohli responded, “I know my name is nowadays attached to just promoting the game in many parts of the world, when it comes to T20 cricket,” citing remarks made earlier in the match by former England captain Kevin Pietersen.

“But, I’ve still got it, I guess.”

With an extremely aggressive attitude against Punjab, Kohli dispelled any questions about his ability to reinvent his style by hitting pace bowlers over cover instead of using his signature fastballs that bounce off the ground.

They won’t let me hit gaps because they know I can play the cover drive rather well. He’s tall, therefore he goes well with men like KG (Kagiso Rabada) and Arshdeep (Singh). You need to give the ball some momentum if they are hitting it for length,” he continued.

“You have to come up with a gameplan here and there and try to keep improving your game.”

After Kohli scored his 51st IPL half-century, Dinesh Karthik struck 28 off 10 balls to seal the victory.

“I was disappointed I couldn’t finish the game,” Kohli stated.

“But yeah, not a bad start for playing after two months and getting into the tournament.”
