Following Kirk Cousins’ departure in free agency, the Minnesota Vikings intend to bolster their quarterback position with a young player of the future. It appears that they would rather discover that quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft than go for other struggling developmental possibilities or a rehabilitated first-round choice like Justin Fields. Indeed, they signed Sam Darnold, but they just see him as a luxury bridge worth $10 million to the next big thing.
However, this does not imply that the aforementioned former Chicago Bear, who is currently a Pittsburgh Steeler, had no interest in joining the Vikings. Although they are uncommon, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has made inner-division transactions in the past. With the Detroit Lions, he has completed two very significant deals. The first one resulted in TJ Hockenson. A few years previously, the same kittens were able to leap ahead and select wide receiver Jameson Williams thanks to the second.
Justin Fields had interest in playing for Minnesota Vikings
Ultimately, the Vikings were determined to take a different route. However, ESPN reports that the 25-year-old quarterback had Minnesota, along with Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, and Atlanta, on his short list of four ideal trade destinations.
Naturally. Now everything becomes sense. With Kevin O’Connell, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson on their side, who wouldn’t want to? It seems like the ideal starting position for a quarterback.
Yet, the Bears may have been hesitant to send their starting quarterback of the past two seasons to their NFC North division rivals. Not to mention, Fields also had an interest in joining the Steelers from the very start, thanks to “thinking highly” of former Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin, his new coach in Pittsburgh.
