Vikings QB Interest: Three Private Workouts and One Canceled Meeting

The 2024 NFL Draft, which takes place in Detroit on April 25, is anticipated to select the team’s next quarterback in a few weeks, according to the Minnesota Vikings. There has been some conjecture that the Vikings may decide to give their two first-round picks to someone other than a quarterback, giving freshly acquired Sam Darnold control of the team’s offense. Don’t hold your breath, though.

But it’s quite likely that head coach Kevin O’Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah would spend their first-round draft pick to acquire a new quarterback. If they’re aiming for Jayden Daniels (LSU), JJ McCarthy (Michigan), or Drake Maye (UNC), they may use Nos. 11 and No. 23 to get into the top-10, if not the top-5.

Alternatively, they might remain in place and select Michael Penix Jr., who they have also been connected to lately, with pick number 23. There are countless possibilities. If they’re willing to give up their 2025 first, they can move back and as high as the top two or three. If they really like Penix, they can even drop.
