The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO of Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, said the Premier League has opened the door to their appeal by failing to set a clear precedent for rule breaches in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.
Last month, Forest received a four-point punishment for exceeding the permitted £61 million barrier set by the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules by £34.5 million.
The Midlands Club’s mitigating considerations were rejected by an independent committee; nonetheless, the club challenged the ruling and plans to lessen the punishment.
Following the FFP appeal, Nottingham Forest is expected to regain “one or two points.”
The verdict will be rendered no later than May 24, which is five days after the season ends, however no formal date has been announced.
With 25 points, Forest is presently three points ahead of Luton Town, who are fighting for relegation, in 18th place.
