Report;Nepal to vie against West Indies

On Monday, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) revealed plans to tour Nepal with their T20 “A” team.

The TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu will host a five-match Twenty20 series between West Indies-A and Nepal, according to a press release issued by the CWI and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).

The release said, “This historic series will be the first time a West Indies team has toured Nepal.”

The planned run of the series is from April 27 to May 4.

The West Indies defeated Nepal by 101 runs in their lone international cricket match, which took place at the Harare Sports Club during the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in 2023.

Both nations are preparing for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the United States and West Indies in June. The tour is a part of their respective World Cup preparations.

The Co-Hosts are in Group C in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and will face Papua New Guinea, Uganda, New Zealand, and Afghanistan, whilst Nepal is in Group D and will face the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh.

On Sunday, The Ireland Wolves wrapped up their Nepal tour with a third OD. They defeated the hosts by 69 runs in their final one-day match, sealing a clean sweep in the three-match series at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

The visitors also played a three-match T20 series against Nepal’s second-string side from March 29 to April 1, which they won 2-1. Before that, the Wolves had played a two-match T20 series against Nepal’s senior men’s cricket.
