Good one for Derby County

The 18-year-old moved north on loan for the remainder of the season in January, and in March he experienced a month filled with premiers.

He opened a hectic month of activity at Boreham Wood, scoring his first goal as a senior with an equalizer in injury time.

After that, in the first 22 minutes of Gatehead’s Isuzu FA Trophy Quarter Final victory over Peterborough Sports, Brown scored his first senior hat-trick. Three days later, he returned to league action and scored the game-winning goal against Dagenham & Redbridge.

After starting three straight games against Altrincham, Hartlepool United, and Rochdale, the Academy alumnus added three more goals to his total of eight goals and four assists in eight outings across all competitions.

“It was a great feeling to find out that I’d been voted as Player of the Month by both the fans and the league, and to be recognised for what I’m doing,” Brown stated.

“I’ve had a really successful month in terms of the number of goals I was able to score for the club and win some games.

“I feel like I’ve been doing well and doing what I know I can do, and it’s been a help having the team supporting me and pushing me to excel.”

Prior to going out on loan, Brown, a second-year scholar at Derby who signed his first professional deal last summer, made his senior debut earlier in the season.

Before relocating to Gateshead, Brown was in great form at the Academy level. He scored six goals in nine Premier League 2 matches for the Under-21s, and he also regularly scored eight goals in just four games for the Central League and Central League Cup.

In six games for the Under-18s in the Under-18 Premier League, Premier League Cup, and FA Youth Cup combined, he also scored six goals.

Brown has appeared in five games for Paul Warne’s club overall since spending the previous summer’s preseason with the first team. In the November Bristol Street Motors Trophy Group Stage victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s, he got his first start as a senior.
