According to a social media statement issued by LA Galaxy, the recent encounter between LA Galaxy and LAFC, nicknamed “El Tráfico,” took an unsettling turn after being tainted by a racial incident that occurred after the game.
Joseph Paintsil, a Ghanaian forward just acquired by LA Galaxy from Belgian Pro League team KRC Genk, was the victim of this event. After Galaxy lost to LAFC 2-1, Paintsil was the focus of what the Galaxy called a “racist social media incident.”
According to reports, the altercation started when a racist term was used by a LAFC fan to disparage Paintsil’s performance during the match in an Instagram post. The inflammatory remark has been removed, but screenshots that are making the rounds on Reddit show what it was about.
LA Galaxy quickly responded by releasing a statement in which they expressed support for Paintsil and denounced the racial mistreatment he had to suffer.

Furthermore, the club emphasized its stance against racism, asserting that such behavior has no place in the community, the league, or society at large.
