Battle Brewing With UConn for Five-Star

Dwayne Aristode has been a target for Duke basketball since at least last summer. Back then, the 6-foot-7, 185-pound forward from the Netherlands was preparing for his first prep season in America after deciding to attend Brewster Academy (N.H.). Since then, he has climbed to No. 19 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite and achieved five-star status.

Although he has frequently stated in interviews that he has been in constant communication with the Blue Devils, head coach Jon Scheyer has not made any reports of an offer.

Nevertheless, Aristode, a 17-year-old “win at all costs” athlete and long-limbed bucket-getter, told Pro Insight recently that he is considering a trip to Duke this summer. The Blue Devils are not alone in this regard, though, as he listed a number of other well-known suitors that he has marked on his calendar, including UConn, the current defending national champion.

“For AAU, I kind of have my summer schedule set out,” Aristode said. “I’m going to start making a lot of visits immediately, between AAU. So, the moment has come.I would name UConn, Duke, Virginia, and Xavier; the final one was unofficial, so I still need to take an official to UCLA.”

Thus far, only eight 2025 prospects, all still undecided in their recruitments, have reported offers from Scheyer and his crew. That Duke basketball wishlist consists purely of composite five-star talents, and all eight of them rank among the top 20 in the cycle.
