Celtics eager to Make Up for Expensed Postseason Strategy

In addition to having the fifth-best winning % in team history, the Boston Celtics’ 64-win campaign grants them home-court advantage for the NBA Playoffs.

Boston led the Eastern Conference by 14 games at the end of the season, and they also had a seven-game advantage over the rest of the league.

With a 37-4 home record this season, the Celtics should have a significant edge in having the opening two games of every series played at TD Garden. But last year, that proved not to be the case.

Boston was 4-6 at TD Garden in the previous postseason, including a Game 7 defeat to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference finals, despite possessing home-court advantage in the three series they participated in.

“Yes, we weren’t good last year,” Al Horford remarked during Tuesday’s practice. “The way we’ve been playing at home this year seems different. However, I believe that we all realize that we need to perform and go out and play.

“It seems like we kind of relied on the idea that since we were at home, our supporters would definitely make us win,” last year. Most likely, the attitude wasn’t the most conducive to success.
