Taylor, 38, will be joining the Dubai-based team as they kick off their inaugural season in the UAE Pro League next season. Taylor retired from football in 2021 following a stint at Wellington Phoenix, where he was captain of the New Zealand team. The former Newcastle United player then went on to become head coach of Gulf United in January 2022, leading the team to back-to-back promotions into the second tier. Taylor left the Eagles in August of last year and is now joining Al Qabil FC, who are led by creative director Daniyal Sheikh and professional footballer Soheil Varahram. The project, titled “Building a Pro Football Club in 365 Days,” has gone viral and garnered tens of millions of views on social media.
