Carlos Emiro Garcés is not going anywhere! The LA Galaxy has made the decision to permanently sign the gifted defender after weeks of rumors and initial teasers about his potential loan contract.
A few weeks ago, the Liga BetPlay Dimayor I team Deportivo Pereira’s Carlos Emiro Garcés was signed by the LA Galaxy on loan for the duration of the 2024 MLS season, with an option to extend the loan.
In the present day, it appears that the people at Galaxy HQ have chosen to forego the trial period and integrate Garcés as a full-fledged team member.
Journalist Pipe Sierra claims that LA Galaxy quickly changed course and chose to buy Garcés outright rather than pursue a loan with an option.
Pereira will sell him for a cool $1.4 million under the terms of the arrangement, and the club will keep 30% of any future sales proceeds. It is a mutually beneficial arrangement for all stakeholders.
Carlos Emiro Garcés, who made his debut in 2021 at the age of 20, has already demonstrated his enormous potential at the age of just 22.

His time at Deportivo Pereira from 2021 to 2024 has been nothing short of impressive, with Garcés racking up an impressive 67 appearances, 57 of which he started, and even finding the back of the net along the way.
Garcés’ standout performances haven’t gone unnoticed, particularly his role in Pereira’s historic league title win during the 2022 Liga BetPlay Dimayor campaign.
And with the ongoing 2024 Liga BetPlay Dimayor Apertura season already underway, Garcés has wasted no time in making his mark, clocking up an impressive 790 minutes across 10 matches, with 9 of those seeing him start.
LA Galaxy’s General Manager, Will Kuntz, couldn’t contain his excitement about Garcés’ arrival, highlighting the young defender’s experience and potential. With Garcés now officially on board, the Galaxy’s defensive lineup just got a whole lot stronger, and fans can’t wait to see him in action on the pitch.
