What really happened after the last match

After Manchester United beat Coventry City on penalties, there were quiet celebrations at full time.

Coventry’s goal in the 120th minute nearly made the match one of the most embarrassing ever for the team as they allowed a 3-0 advantage to fall to 3-3.

The goal was narrowly disallowed for offside. Manchester United hardly deserved their “get out of jail card.”

United prevailed 4-2 in the penalty shootout, with goalie André Onana saving a crucial save.

You have to sympathize with Coventry City’s suffering as a football fan. Last season’s play-off final ended in a penalty shootout loss for the Championship team.

Without VAR, they would be celebrating right now after coming dangerously close to pulling off one of the greatest cup upsets ever.

Richard Keys, a former Sky Sports presenter who currently appears on BeIN Sports, is one well-known Coventry City supporter.

After the game, he expressed his thoughts on X and criticized VAR for the goal-zeroing decision that was deemed to be offside.

“Proud of you boys @Coventry_City,” Keys posted. And to everyone who went Wembley Sky Blue.

“Well done, Utd. At a time when the FA Cup sorely needed a fantastic Cup story, technology has sadly just destroyed one of the greatest ever.

The manager of Coventry City’s response

When questioned after the game, Coventry City manager Mark Robins showed his frustration with the VAR goal.

It is a toe nail, he said to ITV. Our lives are made miserable by those lines. Attending an FA Cup final is a rare opportunity, and we came very, very near.

“That’s amazing to come back from a 3-0 deficit. Some excellent football. At the end, we were somewhat let down.

Penalties are applied, and the outcome is random. If someone has the guts to take a shot in a cauldron, you have nothing against them.

Supporters of Manchester United will only be in admiration of Coventry’s style of play.

It’s reasonable to assume that there is a great deal of frustration among our own team.
