‘Moroka Swallows should play well’

WHAT HAPPENED?

Moroka Swallows interim coach Musa Nyatama says his side will approach Wednesday’s Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates with optimism.

Despite the inconsistent performances of late, which show no sign of easing ahead of Wednesday, Nyatama has faith in his players and insists he can sense the squad is ready for a tough test against Jose Riveiro’s title chasers.

The coach says they must take advantage as they welcome the wounded Sea Robbers in Dobsonville, with the Dube Birds looking to avenge the defeat at Orlando Stadium in December 2023.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Dube Birds last won the original Soweto Derby in 2021 at Orlando Stadium. Since then, Pirates have claimed the bragging rights in the last four meetings.

Swallows will be hoping to win this match to run away from the relegation zone. They had gone 10 matches without a win in the league until they beat Spurs over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Sea Robbers will be keen on bouncing back from last weekend’s loss against Sekhukhune United.

WHAT WAS SAID?

”A difficult match ahead of us against Orlando Pirates. They will come at us, but we’re playing at home, we should play well,” Nyatama said, per SABC Sport.

“In terms of changes, I’m not sure, I still need to think about that. We are playing in three days time and I do think I will freshen the team a little bit.”
