Good News for Miami Heat

A journalist for the NBA suggested that Brandon Ingram be acquired by the Miami Heat from the New Orleans Pelicans in the upcoming offseason.

Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley thinks Ingram fits in with the Heat.

Buckley stated, “Bryan Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans comes to mind when scanning the list of potential South Beach targets.” He is the same age as Adebayo (26), and he can clear the air for Miami’s offense, which came in at number 21 in efficiency. He is also a competent enough scorer and secondary facilitator. He might become available if the Pelicans decide to reconsider the Ingram-Zion Williamson duo in the wake of an early playoff loss.

The fact that Ingram isn’t a very good player probably helps the Heat as well, as they don’t have a lot of trade assets. But if there are Tyler Herro supporters in the Pelicans front office, then they ought to have enough for him. Herro, a young player (Jaime Jaquez Jr. or Nikola Jović), and an unprotected future first-round pick should be considered a package that at least warrants a callback.

The Heat, who were unable to acquire both Damian Lillard and Rudy Holiday in the summer, might pull off a major trade this offseason.

“Players aspire to be affiliated with that organization,” stated Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Therefore, I believe Miami will be in a position to utilize their current assets to go out and get another player on par with an All-Star, someone who perhaps has a stronger connection to Bam Adebayo given his age.

For the Pelicans this season, Ingram averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists while shooting 80.1% from the free-throw line, 35.5% from beyond the arc, and 49.2% from the field. In the last year of his contract, the former All-Star will earn $36 million the next season.

With the Lakers and Pelicans, Ingram, who started his NBA career with the Lakers, has averaged 19.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over his career.
