Heartbreaking News;He Won’t Play Again

Our mouths are still agape.

Because on Anzac Day, Jamie Elliott might have produced the mark of the decade in addition to the mark of the year.

During the third quarter of Thursday’s match, the flying Collingwood player made what was likely his best AFL grab to date, vaulting over Essendon defender Ben McKay and grabbing a screaming runner.

Elliott’s accomplishment astounded observers and supporters.

“That is as good as it gets over Ben McKay’s massive frame,” analyst James Brayshaw of Channel 7 stated.

“Wow, this field has some really large marks, but none larger than that. Our game is finest when it is like that.

Melbourne legend Garry Lyon told Fox Footy: “Jamie Elliott has ensured he will be on Anzac Day highlight reels forever and ever. That, my friends, is going to take some beating for mark of the year.

AFL Nation commentator Gerard Whateley added: “It’s a screamer that will last for generations on this day. Jamie Elliott, with one of the all-timers!”

Triple All-Australian Eddie Betts was left in awe of Elliott’s mark.

“I’ve been on this ground in the opposite pocket playing against Essendon and watching Andrew Walker jump and take that big speccy,” Betts told Fox Footy.

“That has to win mark of the year, for him to get up that high.”

Coincidentally, Elliott’s mark occurred in the same pocket of the same ground against the same opposition as when he kicked his gobsmacking post-siren match-winning goal against the Bombers last year.

Importantly, Elliott converted his set-shot goal after the mark.
