‘Devastating’;Welsh Captain out on terrible injury

Aaron Ramsey, the captain of Wales, has been included in the team for the pivotal Euro 2024 playoff games.

After a five-month layoff due to a knee injury, Ramsey had a new calf problem a month ago, and it was first anticipated that he would miss the crucial week of international football. However, he has resumed his training at Cardiff City this week and could participate in Thursday’s semi-final matchup with Finland.

Ramsey said last week: “It’s coming along. Hopefully I’ll be back on the grass next week. I’m optimistic and hopefully I’ll be back on that pitch as soon as possible.” Cardiff manager Erol Bulut then confirmed Ramsey trained on Tuesday, adding: “He will train with us and I hope everything goes well. How I know, he will also be with the Welsh national team.

“If he is playing or not, I don’t know. I think the medical staff and him have to make a decision about that. But with us, he will be with us after the international break and fully until the end of the season.”

Elsewhere, several key players have seen an increase in game time at club level following moves in January, and Rob Page has called up Rubin Colwill, Joe Low and Charlie Savage from the U21s to provide strength in depth as Cymru look to reach their third European Championships in a row.

Leeds United stars Ethan Ampadu and Daniel James are in line to win their 50th caps during the window, while Rabbi Matondo and Dylan Levitt return to the squad following injuries.
