Louie Sibley has been called “Mr. Derby County” by Eiran Cashin after the club was promoted to the Championship.
After defeating Carlisle United 2-0 last weekend, the Rams have won a spot back in the second division.
James Collins and Max Bird’s goals gave League One second place, five points ahead of third-place Bolton Wanderers.
Paul Warne’s team, who placed seventh in the table the previous year, earned promotion on their second try.
The Rams are now making plans for their return to the Championship, where they intend to stay for the upcoming season.
On social media last Saturday, Sibley shared a joyful message to fans once their promotion was confirmed.
Ahead of the team’s return to the championship, the 22-year-old emphasized the highs and lows the team has experienced in recent years.
“OLE’ OLE’, the Rams are going up,” Sibley posted on Instagram.
“What a sensation! What an incredible journey it has been, experiencing both good and difficult moments with each other in recent years, and now everyone is celebrating PROMOTION!
What a unique club!
“A truly amazing day for all those involved.” UP THE RAMSSSSS!
Sibley joined Derby’s first squad as a regular after going through the development system. He did so in the 2019–20 season.
In response to his joyful remark, Cashin dubbed the young person “Mr. Derby County.”
During the League One season, Sibley had 38 appearances, including 23 starts, and he tallied four goals and three assists (all figures courtesy of Fbref).
After completing the club’s youth program, he became a regular member of the squad and has been a vital component of the team in recent seasons.
Now that Derby is back in the second division after two seasons in the third tier, the midfield player will be looking to make an impression.
