Burnley has caused another disaster

This time, the victim is none other than Scott McTominay, who on Saturday against Burnley came on in the 65th minute and was taken off the field in stoppage time after appearing to be in considerable discomfort.

In the last three games, a starting spot in defensive midfield has opened up due to Casemiro filling in for the five injured center halves. Erik ten Hag chose to start Christian Eriksen with veteran Kobbie Mainoo in place of the Brazilian.

But barely 20 minutes into the second half, the 19-year-old was replaced by McTominay, a move that drew loud jeers from the Old Trafford supporters. After the game, the manager declared that he is determined to properly control Mainoo’s minutes to prevent harm to the young player.

In the meantime, McTominay made his FA Cup semifinal victory over Coventry City on Sunday mark his comeback from a two-game absence. Before making two substitute appearances in the following games against Sheffield United and the Clarets, he started the match and played for 103 minutes.

The latter saw the 27-year-old walk off during injury time and head straight down the tunnel for treatment, with the assistance of the physio staff. This raised serious questions about his condition and if we would see him again before the campaign ends.

Analysts express preliminary opinions of McTominay’s state.

Concerning their observations of the incident, the pundit panel on MUTV expressed unsettling opinions. Mark Sullivan said that McTominay appeared “distressed” as he left the field.

Febian Brandy said, “It didn’t look good from where we were sitting.”

“Just the fact that Scott doesn’t seem like he wants to come off makes it seem like it could not be a good fit. You simply hope it’s nothing major and that it won’t take longer than two or three days.

With both the FA Cup final and Euro 2024 approaching, where he will likely be expected to play a key role for Scotland throughout the competition, United’s No. 39 may be fearing the worst. He contributed significantly to his country’s qualification as well, scoring seven goals in the eight games they played.
