Leon Hayes will miss the rest of the Super League season after fracturing his ankle.

The 20-year-old scrum-half sustained the injury during Saturday’s 17–12 loss to Salford Red Devils.

Sam Burgess, the new coach of the Wire, has made Hayes a regular, but the injury will keep him out of play for about half a year.

Players pushed medical personnel onto the field when he fractured his arm in a typical tackle. The preliminary examination indicated that the damage was, at the very least, a dislocation.

The club acknowledged in a statement that Hayes had a “fracture dislocation” and that surgery will be performed in the coming days.
